Overzealous Play Rehearsals

This afternoon, my friend was fetching a camera from my yearbook instructor’s office to take pictures of the school play. This sounds like an easy task, but apparently it wasn’t.

My friend came back into the yearbook room (across campus from the yearbook instructor’s office) limping and proclaiming “I think I twisted my ankle…”

How does one  react to this?

Especially when one’s friend looks like she is smuggling a tangerine into her tights (because of the swelling).

And you know the funniest part?

She twisted her ankle by walking down stairs and stepping on a wrong step. Not exercising, or anything exciting like that. Nope, walking down stairs.

Until next time, Em 🙂

I GOT A NEW CAMERA!!!

So I got that camera that I wanted, the Canon EOS Rebel XT. So far it’s a really great camera – mostly I’m just getting used to using all manual settings, which is really tough at times. There is one downfall, though – it comes with a CF card, which is a fancy name for a memory card that doesn’t fit in a computer 😦 I tried downloading the software to connect the camera via USB, but sadly there isn’t any that works with Windows 7. My dad’s computer runs on Windows Vista, so hopefully I can connect it via USB and I’ll be able to download all of the pictures! Wish me luck!

Oh and I have a rant to post… so as you may know I’m on yearbook staff. I take this job very seriously, as I should, taking pictures of kids all around campus doing different activities. I’m also in tech (building sets for the play), and I wanted to take a few pictures of everyone burning paper for the play (it’s complicated). So I got out my camera and immediately a sophomore (who thinks she’s better than everyone else apparently, did she not learn to respect the upperclassmen?!) screams at me to not take pictures… like you have any right to say that stuff. I was told by the yearbook teacher/coordinator that we were allowed to take pictures of people unless TEACHERS said we couldn’t. I’m pretty sure sophomores are NOT teachers, so you really have no right to tell me not to do things. Anyways, I stalked away (after giving her a piece of my mind) and am now doing homework and ranting (because I couldn’t concentrate with all those negative thoughts in my head). Ahh, it feels good to rant.

Until next time, Em 🙂

PS – if you have any advice on how to deal with annoying underclassmen, it’d be greatly appreciated

WHY ARE YOU IN MY DREAM?!

Like, really? Why are my classmates/teachers always in my dreams? It’s actually sorta creepy. I see you enough during the day, I don’t need to see you at night too.

On another topic, I’ve joined Dance Company, and I’m doing Beginner Bollywood. Let’s see how this turns out, because on my “Dancer Profile” I said that I “can barely walk without falling”… which is completely true. Along with Dance Company, I’m also doing tech, which is super exciting because we’re doing a very tech-oriented play. Except I’ll barely have any time for homework. I won’t succumb to junior year, though! I will fall asleep before 11:30! At least for now…

Until next time, Em 🙂

You want awkward? I’ll show you awkward.

Today is senior prank day at my school, complete with croquet and bowling in the hallways, beach balls everywhere, and a hammock and wading pools on the lawn. During lunch my friends and I played croquet and bowling, played volleyball with beach balls, and tried to fit 5 people on the hammock. Why are we forever alone, you ask? Well I’ll tell you why, complete with a totally awkward story!

Background: Megan tried to set me up with her younger brother, who has a surprisingly deep voice for his age. And apparently he has abs?! I never would have guessed; according to Megan, he “sits at the computer all day eating ice cream and M&M’s”…. sounds like me.

Location: I was ushering at the school play (techies all the way)

Situation: Taylor (Megan’s brother) walked up to me and proceeded to say “hi”. For some reason I was feeling really introverted/socially awkward and proceeded to grunt “hey”. Taylor then walked away, apparently realizing I didn’t want to talk to him (I was just being socially awkward! I swear, I repel boys), and my friend Katie started laughing at me and she said “that’s Megan’s brother! You totally just blew him off! He was trying to talk to you and you ignore him!”. “Yes I know who he is, and I said hi…” I replied. Of course she continues laughing at my awkwardness…. my life in a nutshell.

Until next time, Em 🙂

Rom-com fest and 3.14159265358979…

8. What kind of person attracts you?

Umm I love love love nerds. They’re the best. Smart+cute+ nice = perfect combo. Most nerds are nice, and I really don’t understand why people don’t like them. I mean, ya they’re different, but aren’t we all? I would rather go out with a nice, nerdy guy than a stuck-up, popular guy.

On another note, we had a snow day today because of ice on campus. So I decided to have a rom-com fest. Starting with “Never Been Kissed,” one of my favorite movies. If you want to watch a hilarious movie, go watch it. Plus, the teacher is really hot. Just sayin’.

Also, we apparently have drama rehearsal today (I’m a techie :)) and I’m NOT a fan of this idea. First, should we really be going on campus if WE HAVE A SNOW DAY BECAUSE OF HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS? Second, I don’t care if the show will suck. The actors should have practiced. Also, the singing-instructor made everyone sopranos, which sounds terrible. So ya, I’m not going. Sucks for them.

Oh and I almost forgot, HAPPY PI DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3/14 FOR THE WIN 🙂 I can’t wait till 3/14/15 because that will be the awesomest Pi Day ever.

A really cool mosaic in Berlin

Until next time, Em 🙂
