So I decided to recap what I’ve been up to once a week every week…
Song of the week: This is Home by Switchfoot: this is such a great song… I heard it on a commercial for some Disney movie about monkeys that just came out and I fell in love with it at first note (not a great analogy)
Book of the week: I didn’t read any books this week
Word of the week: tittle. noun. the dot on top of the letter “i”
Cool facts: If you inhale a pea in can sprout and grow in your lungs! There’s a theater in Russia where all the actors are cats! When cranberries are ripe, they bounce like a rubber ball! Those doves released at weddings and other formal ceremonies are actually white homing pigeons! Sources: http://www.randompicdumps.com and http://www.omg-facts.com
Something interesting that happened: when I was making tater tots for lunch today, I preheated the oven without looking inside first and after about 15 minutes the house started smelling like burnt plastic… yeah my dad had put a box of donuts in there to “keep them out of the way”… I will always check the oven first before heating it. Also, I survived my first week of Junior Year! It’s weird because I’m actually excited for school this year, because my classes sound really exciting (Spanish III [not so much], IB HL English, Commitment in Adult Relationships [sounds worse than it is], IB MS2 [calculus/statistics], Biology, Yearbook [a dream of mine since 6th grade], IB HL History)
Quote of the week: “I think it’s important to make the distinction between the grade you receive and your overall enjoyment of a subject. This is hard to do when you’re in school because everyone is so focused on the mark.” -Gabrielle Zevin
“Janie wanted to ask Hezekiah about Tea Cake, but she was afraid he might misunderstand her and think she was interested.” (OH MY WORD, I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL! PRETTY MUCH SUMS UP ANNA AND I’S RELATIONSHIP CONCERNING SWIMMER!)
“‘Well, is he- he- is he got uh wife or something lak dat? Not dat it’s any uh mah business.’ She held her breath for the answer.” (UH YEAH THERE WAS DEFINITELY AN AWKWARD SITUATION WHERE THIS HAPPENED TO ME LAST YEAR, MINUS THE WHOLE, YOU KNOW, WIFE PART)
-Their Eyes Were Watching God
Oh also, I was asking RJ about the guy she likes (Jadrian) , who is sadly graduating, and we had this highly stimulating conversation:
Em: “Is he popular?”
RJ: “He’s… captain of the chess team.”
Today I heard a story that made me feel really sad and really happy at the same time. I was at a scrapbooking event (nerdy, I know) when one of the women said that she had been married for 40 or so years, and that she had gone to High School with her husband. The first thing that came to my mind was were they high school sweethearts. Someone asked about this, and she said that they had actually been best friends, but never went out. I literally wanted to cry right then and there. Why can’t I have a best friend that I feel like I want to spend every day of my life with them? The quote I have as the title pretty much sums up my feelings. Also the one below.
“Someday I’m gonna find somebody really, really great who’s right for me.” -Taylor Swift
So now I pretty much feel like I’m forever alone, but I guess as long as I keep my options open and don’t put too much pressure on getting a boyfriend, maybe I could find someone who makes me feel like that lady and her husband.
Until next time, Em 🙂
Oh, and you should really read Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares. It’s a great book.
