even more fun facts about yours truly

These questions come from Jesse over at Hello Obsession. Enjoy!

1. What size is your bed?
Full size! I am so excited to finally get a bigger bed so that I can put a bunch of pillows on it and still sleep in it (without falling out because of the pillows)

2. What is your song of the week?
I have no idea… maybe Stay the Night by James Blunt? It’s one of my favorite songs, ever.

3. Would you bury treasure if you had some?
Funny story, when I was younger, my brother and I buried a bunch of toy cars and we never found half of them, so I guess the next owners of our house will find them someday… okay that wasn’t even a funny story… so, no I wouldn’t, because I would probably forget about it. As shown by my story.

4. Are you afraid of heights?
Not exactly. I love doing those obstacle course things in the sky, and zip lining, and rock climbing. But sometimes I feel queasy when I’m up high… I’m not scared or anything, but I have that feeling that you get when you’re on a roller coaster. Stomach in the throat thing.

5. Do you sing in the shower?
If I was to sing in the shower, animal control would probably be called – to rescue a beluga whale that washed up in my shower 😉

6. Do you believe in ghosts?
No? Honestly, if I was to believe in ghosts, then I would lead a very frightened life indeed. Every noise that my house makes when I’m home alone is super frightening, and I don’t need to throw ghosts in the mix too. But yeah, maybe.

7. What was the worst injury you had?
In fifth grade my class was playing nerf football during recess and a kid threw the football at my face (not on purpose) and my glasses broke. I guess that’s the worse.
OH, and I sprained my wrist in fifth grade, when I ran into one of those white street-sidewalk dividers when I was riding my bike home. I flew over my handlebars and I’m surprised I didn’t get hit by a car. My dad made me bike all the way home and I couldn’t brake my bike, so I flew down the hill we live on and… yeah. I don’t like biking on hills anymore.

8. Coffee or tea? why?
Coffee tastes so scrumptious – especially when I have a late curling match… and I’m suddenly great at tennis when I drink it.
Tea has so many flavors… like Chai Tea Lattes, Dublin Fogs, Market Spice Cinnamon-Orange (so delicious… *faint*), etc.
I like tea when I want something sweet/fruity flavored, and coffee, anytime else.
Also, I love drinking hot cocoa and coffee mixed :3

9. Are you patient?
No.

10. What was the last text message you sent?
“Aw 😦 How long is it?” – Lana had a 4 hour ballet rehearsal

11. What do you want for your first tattoo/what was your first tattoo?
If I ever met Chris Pine, I would have him sign my arm and then get a tattoo of it.

Or a mustache on my finger, so I could do this:

Have you ever wondered what happened on the day you were born?

I once went to the huge library in Vancouver, BC to check out the newspapers they have, just to see what happened on my birthday. I encourage you to do the same, it’s pretty cool!

There is an old nursery rhyme that supposedly tells your future:

Monday’s child is fair of face,
Tuesday’s child is full of grace,
Wednesday’s child is full of woe,
Thursday’s child has far to go.
Friday’s child is loving and giving,
Saturday’s child works hard for a living,
But the child born on the Sabbath Day,
Is fair and wise and good in every way.

I’m not sure if I believe in this kind of stuff, but since I was born on a Wednesday, apparently I am “full of woe”. Sort of accurate.

Also, the number one songs on my birthday were:
In the USA: “Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)” by Los Del Rio
In the UK: “Breakfast At Tiffanys” by Deep Blue Something (I LOVE THIS SONG. MAYBE IT’S FATE?)

Today I am:
– 16 years, 1 month, 1 day old
– 112 years old in dog years
– 5,876 days old
– Approx. 141,040 hours old
– Approx. 507,745,690 seconds old

Thanks, Jazz, for the great idea!

Until next time, Em 🙂

The Weekly Post: 9/9/12

Song of the week: Sorry by Buckcherry… so if I had to say my favorite song? This’d be it. It makes me feel like crying every time I hear it. Also, here’s some other good songs! Anywhere But Here by SafetySuit and  The Story Left Untold by Every Avenue! I was looking at songs that I had bookmarked to listen to later, and these were sitting right there… I’m so happy I decided to listen to them 🙂

Book of the week: Let It Snow by Maureen Johnson, John Green, and Lauren Myracle… so I already featured this book in another post, but can I just say, I re-read the first book in this “collection” and asdfkl I want to read it over and over and over… ugh.

Word of the week: flamdoodle. noun. nonsense

Cool fact: Hugh Grant is exactly one day older than Colin Firth! Way to go, British actors!

Something interesting that happened: I watched Love Actually… yeah so this video? Pretty much my life.

Quote of the week: “A life isn’t measured in hours or minutes. It’s the quality, not the length.” –Elsewhere (go read it)

Until next time, Em 🙂

The Weekly Post: 9/1/12

So I decided to recap what I’ve been up to once a week every week…

Song of the week: This is Home by Switchfoot: this is such a great song… I heard it on a commercial for some Disney movie about monkeys that just came out and I fell in love with it at first note (not a great analogy)

Book of the week: I didn’t read any books this week :/

Word of the week: tittle. noun. the dot on top of the letter “i”

Cool facts: If you inhale a pea in can sprout and grow in your lungs! There’s a theater in Russia where all the actors are cats! When cranberries are ripe, they bounce like a rubber ball! Those doves released at weddings and other formal ceremonies are actually white homing pigeons! Sources: http://www.randompicdumps.com and http://www.omg-facts.com

Something interesting that happened: when I was making tater tots for lunch today, I preheated the oven without looking inside first and after about 15 minutes the house started smelling like burnt plastic… yeah my dad had put a box of donuts in there to “keep them out of the way”… I will always check the oven first before heating it. Also, I survived my first week of Junior Year! It’s weird because I’m actually excited for school this year, because my classes sound really exciting (Spanish III [not so much], IB HL English, Commitment in Adult Relationships [sounds worse than it is], IB MS2 [calculus/statistics], Biology, Yearbook [a dream of mine since 6th grade], IB HL History)

Quote of the week: “I think it’s important to make the distinction between the grade you receive and your overall enjoyment of a subject. This is hard to do when you’re in school because everyone is so focused on the mark.” -Gabrielle Zevin

Until next time, Em 🙂

Photo a day: day 30

Day 30: Something you own that isn’t considered normal

So once upon a time my mom won tickets to see David Cook in concert. I was gonna go with her, but then she found out it was at a casino. Even though no alcohol was gonna be served, I couldn’t go. I was heartbroken. Because my mom was 2 feet away from the stage. And then everyone who went there got his autograph and had a picture taken with him. Like, really? Way to rub it in my face. But hey, my mom gave the picture to me, so it’s (almost) all good.

Until next time, Em 🙂

Photo a day: day 22

Day 22: Guilty pleasure

So this is one of my favorite songs (and it’s my ringtone lol)… even though it’s pretty embarrassing when you think about it. Oh and do you like my nails? I haven’t had time to use nail polish remover yet lol so they’re very… rough

So, I made these delicious chocolate dipped shortbread cookies. And if somebody doesn’t watch out, I will have “mysteriously” gained 10 pounds by the time these are gone… the cookies in this picture are only half of the batch I made :/

Me phone!!! I love this thing so much… it’s actually quite scary. I also love the little “&” sticker. It’s all pop-up-y and stuff. And my background is the picture of my by the giant gumball machine from my Day 18: Favorite Store post!

Until next time, Em 🙂

I wouldn’t call it an addiction…

One of my recent… hobbies… is recipe-ing (okay, that’s a totally lame verb, just ignore me). It all started one day at school when we had a free period and I thought “hey, I should do some ‘research’ for when I have my own bakery” (aka find delicious recipes of cupcakes and bookmark them)… now this may have gotten out of hand when I had… oh 80 or so recipes. I then decided to go over to ZipList and make a recipe box for holding all of my delicious recipes. Well, I sort of got… carried away. I now have 138 recipes. I mean, who knows when I’ll get a craving for Microwave Potato Chips or Homemade Croissants or Hot Fudge Sauce? It pays to be prepared, as the Boy Scouts say.

Anyways…

Right now the song Stacy’s Mom is stuck in my head. Why is it so catchy and wonderful while at the same time oh so terrible?! I may or may not have put it as my ringtone in true Elodie fasion. I’m sure it will be funny when it rings, as long as it’s not in any of those aforementioned situations. I should probably go turn my ringer off right now, but my phone is off and I never get calls (I’m not a loser, I swear. I just text people) (read: I’m too lazy). I feel like it’s gonna ring some day after school and everyone will be like “what the haystacks is your ringtone? that is so weird” and I’m gonna be secretly rocking out to it.

Anyways…

I have a very serious problem that needs to be touched upon. I HATE MY HAIR. It’s now long enough to curl up in the back, which 1) looks terrible and 2) looks like a mullet in training, which brings us back to #1. I’m too lazy to get it cut, so I’m hoping it will grow out by the time school comes around. Wait, I have orchestra camp next week. Let’s bring out the hairbands and look like weirdos with super short ponytails yes yes yes. I’m getting off topic here. The very serious problem that needs to be touched upon is that I am mistaken for a guy because of my aforementioned (such a fun word) short hair. I volunteer at the library, and anybody who is anybody, aka anybody who has been there for as long as I have knows that I recently got my hair cut. Now, people who don’t know that, aka patrons, are the meanest people alive (or just stupid). I was helping out a patron, when one of the workers who for some reason was in a snit (all the other workers said this too, so it wasn’t just me) came up to us and asked “are you okay?” and I said “yes” and the patron said “yes he’s got it”… WAIT HOLD UP A MINUTE I AM NOT A GUY. I don’t even look like a guy. You have to live under a rock to not know that some girls have short hair. Maybe it was just this guy, because he didn’t know how the books were shelved (by author)… he didn’t even know what the 3 letters were on the side of the book (THE FIRST THREE LETTERS OF THE AUTHOR’S NAME, HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE?!)…. ugh this is what is wrong with this world.

Until next time, Em 🙂
