Recipe Time: Deck the halls with peppermint steamed milk!

A few days ago, my friend walked into school with a steaming Starbucks cup (love those cups, btw. I wish they had tumblers with the same designs as the cups. Sadly they only have mugs… and not very cute ones this year)… of course I had to ask what she was drinking. She replied, “a peppermint steamed milk”. To be honest, I’m kind of a tea girl. But hey, when I’m confronted with a delicious mug of flavored milk, I just have to drink it. Which is why I decided to make my own version of the delicious drink.

Recipe from www.sideofsneakers.com/ and www.coffeetea.about.com/

Peppermint Steamed Milk:

8 fl oz (1 cup) of hot milk

3 tbs of peppermint syrup

1. Heat up the milk, either in the microwave or on the stovetop.

2. Pour in 3 tbs of peppermint syrup and stir it up.

3. Enjoy!

Peppermint Syrup:

1 cup white granulated sugar

1 cup water

1/2 tsp peppermint extract

1. Put the sugar and water in a small saucepan and heat on low-medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.

2. Take off the stovetop and pour in the peppermint extract.

3. Let cool and then pour into a glass jar or glass bottle.

4. Pour into hot milk/coffee and enjoy!

You could also easily adapt this drink to make any flavor of steamed milk you want… imagine all the possibilities!

Until next time, Em 🙂

C is for Cookie Exchange

This year at my church, we’re having a cookie exchange, and since I love to bake, I decided to join in.

I’m making these yummy homemade snicker bars.

And of course, I’m packaging them in cute homemade cloth bags, which I featured in one of my DIY projects.

Overzealous Play Rehearsals

This afternoon, my friend was fetching a camera from my yearbook instructor’s office to take pictures of the school play. This sounds like an easy task, but apparently it wasn’t.

My friend came back into the yearbook room (across campus from the yearbook instructor’s office) limping and proclaiming “I think I twisted my ankle…”

How does one  react to this?

Especially when one’s friend looks like she is smuggling a tangerine into her tights (because of the swelling).

And you know the funniest part?

She twisted her ankle by walking down stairs and stepping on a wrong step. Not exercising, or anything exciting like that. Nope, walking down stairs.

Wacky Weather in Washington

Today I decided to write about the wacky weather we have over here on the west coast.

There were some wildfires on the other side of the mountains recently, so we had a red sky in the morning… usually it was more red than this

Not really “wacky weather,” just a nice picture of a sunrise

Not really “wacky weather,” just a nice picture of a sunrise

This looks like snow, doesn’t it? It’s actually hail… on Sunday it was hailing so hard that when I walked outside I felt like I was being stabbed in the head…

More hail

More hail

Vivacious events…

Does that title even work? I feel like the word vivacious can’t describe a noun besides a person, but whatever…

Some good stuff that’s happening this week:

1. Yearbook class! I’m really enjoying making fun layouts for different grades and learning how to use Photoshop and Illustrator to make shapes… it’s harder than it looks.

2. My tea is being shipped! We don’t have very good tea in our house… Irish Breakfast and English Breakfast are good but I get tired of it really fast… currently I’m having chocolate mint tea that expired in August 2010… this is what it has come to.

3. My last barista class! This means I can work at a coffee shop now!

4. Scrapbook club! This already happened, and it was really fun to look at old pictures of me and my family! I also made lattes for some of the ladies there – using an espresso machine – good barista experience!

5. The weekend! I am so sick of school already… and it’s only been a few months. It’s weird, but days seem to go on forever but before you know it two months have gone by!

Until next time, Em 🙂
