Sweater Diaries #9 and Lock-ins…

Today I started knitting all the way around the sweater… including the sleeves! Thanks LOTR, you made 3.5 hrs of knitting straight possible.

Eek! Almost done with the sweater!

Eek! Almost done with the sweater!

Sorry for the mess haha… I didn’t feel like cleaning up.

Today I’ve also got a church lock-in. Pretty much, 5 or so of us high schoolers from my church/friends/another church are going to spend the night in my church, watching movies (The Matrix… bring it on) and pretty much chiling out. The only sad thing is that I’m the only girl (MIMI YOU DITCHED ME 😥 )

So if you don’t hear from me tomorrow, you’ll know that I got kidnapped by those suspicious high school boys. At least I’ve got Keanu Reeves to save me, though.

Until next time, Em 🙂

Sweater Diaries #8

Today I went shopping and saw Snowflake Lane, which definitely did NOT live up to my expectations. I was expecting a parade type thing, and instead they just played music and some people were playing the drums (how you can play the drums to “What Makes You Beautiful,” I do not know) and everyone was honking their stupid noise makers right in my ear. On purpose (cough my brother cough)… yep, not my idea of a fun night. A night in with Skylar Astin via “Pitch Perfect”? Yep. Perfect night right there.

Anyways, my family and I went shopping and I got this cute peacoat at JCPenney because (a) I’ve needed/wanted a peacoat since, like, the 7th grade and (b) because it was on sale (yay boxing day and clearance sales!)

I also knit more of my sweater (I am seriously despising this thing now… I wish I was DONE already), and I got new knitting needles (47″ holy mustaches… super long but perfect for knitting a sweater!)

Almost done with the body... so close

74 rows out of 80... almost there!

74 rows out of 80… almost there!

After I finish the 6 rows remaining, I will add the sleeves back into the mix, and continue knitting a (ginormous) sweater… the colorwork is definitely going to be fun, that’s for sure!

Until next time, Em 🙂

Sweater Diaries #7

Today I made a lot of progress on my sweater – I finished the second sleeve, I’m done with half of the body, and I started a matching hat.

I also started the Bach Cello Suite #1 which I am super excited about!

Sweater Diaries #6 and Christmas :)

Merry Christmas, everybody! And if you’re not celebrating Christmas… happy holidays!

Today was a very exciting day, not just because I got some British presents and tea, but also because I was introduced to an awesome charity.

Kiva is a charity that lets you give loans to people and groups trying to make home improvements, buy a new car, or start up a business, etc. I helped a woman in Jordan pay for home improvements, and a man in Mongolia pay for a new, eco-friendly car. The cool thing is that once the person pays back their loan, you can use your credit to help someone else! My brother and I both got $25 cards for Christmas, and we immediately hopped onto the computer to check out who we could help. I encourage you to check out the website, and maybe even give a $25 card to a family member of friend for their birthday.

Anyways, here are some pictures of some awesome presents I got.

A teapot shaped like a telephone booth

British shoes

I also worked on my sweater (as always haha)

Almost done with the second sleeve!

Sweater Diaries #5

Like, really? Last (school) year it snowed in November (2011) and then in, what, May (2012)? And yet it isn’t snowing in December. Like it always does. White Christmas? Not so much.

Sadly, according to, tomorrow’s forecast includes highs in low 40s and rain all day long… 😦

Halfway done with the second sleeve!

Halfway done with the second sleeve!

Anyway, I didn’t have much time to knit today, seeing as IT’S CHRISTMAS EVE! I’m so excited for tomorrow! I got a super cute apron that says “Keep calm and bake on” and I can’t wait to see what else is under our tree!

Hrmph, so many exclamation points in that last paragraph.

Anyway, I knit (a tiny bit more of) the second sleeve, and I am seriously ready to be done with this sweater right now. Let’s not even think about the fact that the hardest colorwork is at the top of the sweater. Nope. Not even gonna think about it.

Happy holidays to everyone!

Until next time, Em 🙂

Sweater Diaries #4

Ermahgerd, I’m almost done with my sweater! And when I say almost done I mean… 1/3 of the way done. Still… after 4 days …

Anyways, today I worked on the body of the sweater and started the other sleeve.

I was rejoicing about never having to do the fairisle part again (which is the whole reason I made a sweater – for the fairisle part), but then I realized that the whole top section is fairisle. Darn.

Until next time, Em 🙂
